Some deployments of media archival systems, such as Actus Insight, accumulates a large amount of media-related text, including closed-captions captured from broadcast, imported texts from external systems such as News Management Systems and Media Asset Management, and user-entered annotations. The amount of accumulated text is affected by the origin, number of monitored sources, length of time kept on record, and number of contributing users.
Actus has developed a hybrid solution based on Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Index Server and custom software to provide search engine-grade ability of instant search on large volume of text. The process requires no user intervention - all texts imported and manipulated by users are automatically added to the text search repository and is available for search results in the system's search modules.
