Actus systems manipulate video data in various forms.
The basic recording is done in best-of-breed codec and file formats, usually Microsoft Video 9 in Microsoft WMV container, or MPEG-4 in Flash MP4 container. This allows playback by corporate and web users with no need for desktop client or other installations, as it uses media players already available for most users.
Video capture is available using any capture device, including multi-port space-saving options such as ViewCast Osprey series, HD and SDI capture using compatible devices such as BlackMagic cards. Quality can be maximal such as 4mbps for full-frame SD sources, allowing for rebroadcast of the content for selected purposes.
Active monitoring is available for video capture, detecting any unexpected behavior such as no video, frozen or pixelized image, or white noise. Systems can be configured to react to any such event with various forms of alerts, including on-screen, external notification, email or SMS.
Audio detection is available for both recognition of pre-defined reference markers as well as recognition of repeating content; this can support identification of content start and end, advertisers and promos, and content items suspects as undefined spots.
Some unique features have been requested by customers, including video "overlay" of static (such as name and logo of recording party) and dynamic (such as date and time) information.
