Actus systems manipulate audio data in various forms.
The basic recording is done in a best-of-breed codec and file formats, usually Microsoft WMA in Microsoft WMV container, or MP3 in Flash MP4 container. Unique features allow for multiple audio tracks for purposes such as multiple speaking languages (English and French in Canada), alternative audio tracks (such as standard and visually-impaired tracks in the UK), and internal (such as standard and production team radio communication recording in live events); and multiple tracks over standard stereo by support dual mono-tracks (saving hardware costs).
Audio capture is available using any standard capture device, including multi-port space-saving options such as ViewCast Osprey series, audio-only devices, and even audio feeds embedded into SDI signals and captured by SDI options such as BlackMagic Design cards.
Active monitoring is available for audio capture, detecting any unexpected behavior such as no audio, audio too high or low, or white noise. Systems can be configured to react to any such event with various forms of alerts, including on-screen, external notification, email or SMS.
Audio detection is available for both recognition of pre-defined reference markers as well as recognition of repeating content; this can support identification of content start and end, advertisers and promos, and content items suspects as undefined spots.
Some unique features have been requested by customers, such as audio "overlay" in the form of specialized beeps places at intervals, detection of audio elements such as explosions, and producing log or reacting to embedded audio signals such as adverting start and end markers.
