Actus Digital to display Clip-Factory-Pro at IBC 2017

Workflow for Clips for OTT and social

Visit Actus Booth: Hall 3, C69

Belgium, Brussels, August 2017 – At IBC 2017 Actus Digital will announce a new and improved version of its automated clips creation platform for OTT, Social Media and any media platform.

Actus Clip Factory Pro is another expansion of the Clip Factory suite of products.

“Not all the broadcasters have the same workflow, requirements and integrations needed for their content re-purposing requirements”,

said Raphael Renous, Actus CTO,

“Therefore we have developed a suite of products: Basic, Advanced and Pro. This way each broadcaster has the flexibility to choose the solution that fits the specific requirements.”

Actus was the first vendor to introduce an automated clips creation software, named “Clip-Factory”, during the IBC show 3 years ago. At that time, clips creation for Social Media was still at its infancy. Since then,  a large number of TV Networks and Telecom operators have adopted Actus’ platform and hundreds of clips are created daily and distributed to their Web sites, as well as to their Social Media pages, such as Facebook and alike.

The broadcast industry is getting a step closer to offering side-by-side linear Live TV programming with non-linear OTT clips for VOD and Catch-up TV.  Actus has also noticed that more and more vendors are embarking on this path and also offering clips creating platforms. At the same time, Actus customers have already defined what should be the next generation of clips creation platforms.

Actus Digital is announcing a newer and much richer product, destined for professional clip editing use, by broadcasters and operators. The new product, named “Clip-Factory-Pro” will include a number of features that make it, again, the most forward looking platform available. The features include a set of video editing functions, such as blurring, muting, pre/post rolls, Ads removal and more. The Clip-Factory-Pro also comes with a new set of Metadata generating tools that can integrate to AsRunLog, automation and Ads insertion systems in view of a fully automated workflow from Linear to OTT. The workflow includes automated delivery to Social Media servers such as Facebook and YouTube.

Last but not least, the Clip-Factory-Pro includes the Multi-Quality technology that allows editing on a low resolution proxy, using low bandwidth, and possible in the Cloud, while the exported clip will be duplicated and exported precisely using a full resolution recording.

The Clip-Factory-Pro will be demonstrated for the first time during the IBC 2017 show, September, in Amsterdam.

ENCO has forged a partnership with Belgium-based broadcast compliance monitoring specialists Actus Digital, with ENCO becoming the first North American distributor of Actus’ comprehensive media intelligence platform. The two companies will highlight their relationship and interoperability between their complementary solutions.

Designed for broadcasters, networks, cable operators, IPTV providers and government organizations, the Actus platform is a cost-effective recording and compliance solution for ensuring broadcasts meet regulatory requirements — such as those mandated by the FCC — including closed captioning, audio loudness limits and more.

The Actus-View application, the cornerstone of the Actus platform, provides broadcast video logging and compliance monitoring through an intuitive, HTML5, web-based user interface. Operators can record and monitor any number of channels, create clips, retrieve recordings and send captured media to editing and media asset management systems, all within a single unified user experience accessible from any connected workstation, tablet or mobile device.

Actus Clip-Factory provides an integrated solution for repurposing broadcast content into video clips for web and mobile viewing, OTT, VOD, catch-up TV and social media. Reducing complexity and costs by eliminating the need for multiple separate products, Actus Clip-Factory incorporates video recording, content extraction, editing, metadata application, transcoding and delivery management into a single streamlined solution.

Actus solutions are ideal complements to ENCO’s television offerings, including the MOM (Media Operations Manager) automation and playout platform, enCaption automated live closed captioning engine and ClipFire instant media playback system. Under the new partnership, ENCO’s world-class sales and support teams will provide Actus Digital with its first U.S-based presence. In addition to bringing the benefits of the Actus platform to North American customers, ENCO will also leverage its renowned customer service capabilities to assist Actus users.

Other Actus solutions complementary to ENCO video solutions include Actus-AdWatch for automatic advertising tracking and verification, Actus Rating-Analyzer for competitive viewership analysis, Actus Alert-Center for broadcast quality assurance, and Actus ChangeTracker for automatically detecting modifications between linear feeds.

Actus-View and Actus Clip-Factory will be showcased alongside ENCO’s complete range of television and radio automation and playout solutions in the ENCO booth (N2024) at the 2017 NAB Show, while the full Actus platform will be demonstrated in Actus Digital’s own booth, SU11021.

Actus presents at NAB 2016: Change-Tracker (for comparing two video streams) and NLC (Near Live Clips for OTT)

Actus presents at NAB 2016: Change-Tracker (for comparing two video streams)
and NLC (Near Live Clips for OTT)

Actus released a new Change-Tracker engine for comparing outgoing and off-air feeds and flagging significant differences according to user-defined rules. These combined functionalities allow regionalized versions of the content to be monitored from multiple sites, ensuring that clients’ brand is retained wherever they are viewed.

Change Tracker

Change-Tracker features the ability to compare two linear feeds, like a primary channel and an affiliate channel, and to automatically detect any variation or modification in the secondary feed. The broadcast operator is notified automatically on all the segments in the streams that were modified.

The benefits of Change-Tracker include the assurance that all channels are being aired exactly as planned, that no program or Ads modifications were introduced, and eventual modifications would be flagged and reported. The engine can track a large number of channels, fully automatically, fast, accurately, thus saving manual work.

Actus was selected for this premier service after a rigorous 4-stage RFP evaluation process conducted by Castle Media – Asia’s leading broadcast consultancy tasked with end-to-end programme management and delivery of the HITS project. “The Actus platform is scalable and modular, which makes the solution cost-effective by allowing GIL to implement only the modules required yet be assured that once additional requirements arise, Actus’s platform will provide us the solution.” said Vynsley Fernandes, Executive Director of Castle Media Private Limited.

ACTUS TO UNVEIL ActusRemote AT NAB 2013

ACTUS TO UNVEIL ACTUSREMOTE AT NAB 2013

Monitor and control distributed remote loggers from a central location

Brussels, Belgium — March 18, 2013 — Actus Digital, a developer of web-based media monitoring, compliance recording, content repurposing and verification solutions for broadcasters, announced today that the new ActusRemote Media Management platform will debut at the NAB 2013 exhibition, held in Las Vegas from April 8 – 11 (booth SU9524).

ActusRemote lets broadcasters record and log channels broadcasted from remote locations to a central location, reducing the need for multiple systems, servers and databases.

Actus CTO Raphael Renous said of the new solution:

“ActusRemote’s distributed architecture and low price tag offers broadcasters an unparalleled price performance proposition. There is no need to duplicate systems across sites. One module per remote site, one main server, and one administration user interface will manage all the probes even for the most elaborate logging/monitoring scenarios.”

Because content is adapted to specific regions, languages and markets more frequently, there are increasing demands for radio and TV channels to be monitored and measured for legal compliance purposes and quality control. With ActusRemote, broadcasters can access all channel recordings and data from one central location, simplifying the infrastructure for managing multiple locations, languages, etc.

ActusRemote Probes connect to the main system and record, even when there are problems and/or fluctuations in bandwidth. The Actus module incorporates protocols to manage disconnections and line quality issues. Actus transfers all encoded chunks (short video files) from the ActusRemote Probe into the ActusRemote central server via FTP, maximizing speeds against available bandwidth.

Depending on the number and type of channels, the ActusRemote Probe can either be:

  • A simple desktop PC, for up to six radio channels, or one TV channel and two radio channels (very cost-effective)
  • A small server, 1RU for up to four TV or eight radio channels
  • A larger server, 2RU for up to 24 TV or 40 radio channels

Actus QualiTV – Remote Broadcast Verification & Monitoring

QualiTV is the only tool on the market today that brings you a complete picture of the DVB broadcast status. QualiTV is a multi-layer solution that centralizes broadcast performance operational information in real time:

Actus gives broadcasters and media agencies advanced media capture and re-purposing capabilities

Actus gives broadcasters and media agencies advanced media capture and repurposing capabilities

New advancements in media ingest optimized by company’s transport stream capabilities showcased at Broadcast Asia 2012

Brussels, Belgium — June 14, 2012 — Actus Digital, a developer of web-based media monitoring, content repurposing and verification solutions for broadcasters, is showcasing new media ingest technology at the Broadcast Asia 2012 exhibition, held in Singapore from June 19–22 (stand 4M2-01). The new features are part of the company’s popular Actus View solution, powered by the enterprise Actus 4 Monitoring and Analysis platform.

Ingest Media — Whether It Is a Clip, Camera Recording, or Tape

In addition to supporting both 24/7 and scheduled recordings, the new Actus capabilities provide support for ingesting media from other resources, including content from a field camera or clips downloaded directly to the desktop. The new ingest capabilities let customers view content, add metadata and utilize it as if the content had been recorded directly into Actus.

“This is a significant breakthrough for Actus. The new ingest feature lets customers ingest any file and manage it as if it was recorded live from a feed by the Actus system,”

says Asaf Salant, Sales Manager, Actus Digital.

“The ability to ingest any ‘outside’ third-party media to the system is now fully available. Once ingested, the full range of the system’s features is usable on the ingested media: monitoring, tagging, annotating, searching, clipping, and repurposing. Actus is much more than a compliance and competitive analysis solution. Actus is a cost-effective content management system ideal for repurposing your content.”

The standard broadcast automation workflow has increased the amount of content stored on and played out from video servers. Actus’ new ingest capability monetizes broadcasters’ ability to monitor and analyze such content. Salant adds, “As broadcasters transfer thousands of hours of tape to compressed, digital hard-disk storage, they look for ingest tools like Actus’ that can handle more than one type of recording workflow.”

Transport Stream Monitoring

Actus offers Actus View as a scalable, reliable, and cost-effective solution for recording and archiving linear broadcasts. Advanced content extraction and transport stream monitoring tools simplify and improve workflows, allowing users to share content with others — thus offering great return on investment.

Actus View offers complete support of transport streams (ASI/IP/DVB) logging, including recording multiple audio tracks and/or multiple subtitles. Users can seamlessly export and stream MPEG TS or low-resolution proxies with the relevant audio and/or subtitles.

Record Transport Stream (TS), also saving the TS in its original format (“as-is”)

● Record multiple audio and multiple subtitles (DVB, Teletext, Imitext, etc.)

● Save the media in any bitrate required: from low quality up to full HD

Actus QualiTV is the only tool on the market today that brings broadcasters a complete picture of their transmission

NEW ACTUS 4 MONITORING SOLUTIONS MAKE THEIR DEBUT AT BROADCAST ASIA 2012

NEW ACTUS 4 MONITORING SOLUTIONS MAKE THEIR DEBUT AT BROADCAST ASIA 2012

Latest releases of Actus Clip Factory, QualiTV, Actus View, Adwatch and Mobile Link on display at Asia’s largest broadcast and media event

Brussels, Belgium — May 10, 2012 — Actus Digital, a developer of web-based media monitoring, content repurposing and verification solutions for broadcasters, today announced its line up for the Broadcast Asia 2012 exhibition to be held in Singapore from June 19–22. On display at stand 4M2-01, are the latest solutions powered by the enterprise Actus 4 Monitoring and Analysis platform; Actus Clip Factory v3.7, Actus QualiTV v2.1, Actus View v6, Actus Adwatch v5.2, and Mobile Link™ v3.2.

Actus Clip Factory (CF) for content repurposing at full HD quality

Actus CF brings the optimal workflow for repurposing content: recording from any input, supporting any format and any resolution, editing media, transcoding the required clips to any format, and delivering the content to any destination.

According to Actus CEO Sima Levy,

“One of the challenges broadcasters and content owners are facing today is to repurpose linear content for web/mobile/rebroadcast. Mainly it means taking a linear broadcast, creating multiple segments clips in the shortest time possible, removing ads if needed, while maintaining and adding metadata to those clips, and then publishing it to different platforms: web site, mobile, YouTube or any other OTT service. Actus Clip Factory offers the best balance between efficiency, ease-of-use and cost.”

With a simple-to-use interface, a single person can produce an entire VOD database rather than needing a full team for each clip. Moreover, this process can be fully automated; all users need to do is create the profile for the desired clips. Actus CF also automates content production for new media platforms, thus making sure content will be available on the new platforms in seconds, automatically, with no human intervention. It’s fast, accurate, and cost effective.

Actus QualiTV for monitoring DVB transmissions

Actus QualiTV is designed for broadcasters and facilities that distribute content through DVB technology. QualiTV gives the operator a true and complete image as well as verification of the quality of the signal reception on the consumers’ TV sets, as the subscribers get it, across the entire distribution area.

QualiTV provides information and statistics on the following three layers: 1) the DVB Signal layer, signal strength, SNR, MER, BER and others; 2) the transport Stream layer, PAT, MPT and more; and 3) the Baseband layer with actual image and sound. The information comes from as many destinations as the user requires.

Actus View for monitoring and analysis

The new Actus View update offers enhanced support for multiple audio tracks and multiple subtitles. It also supports Transport Streams (TS) recordings. According to Levy,

“Broadcasters and operators have to do more than record audio and video. On one hand, they must be able to record multiple audio tracks and, on the other, they must be able to allow the user to select the audio to be played along with the selected video. It’s a similar situation with the subtitles; users need to be able to record multiple subtitles and select from the subtitles menu different languages. The suitable language then needs to be presented and synchronized with the selected video. This is where Actus View shines.”

The new Actus View capabilities record the Transport Stream (TS), allowing broadcasters and operators to record the transport stream “as is” from any input (MPEG-2, MPEG-4) and in the same high resolution.

AdWatch v5.2 expands new advert detection automation capabilities

AdWatch v5.2 automatically detects adverts aired on all relevant TV and radio channels, providing simple-to-use media monitoring tools to verify that advertising content is broadcasted according to plan over local and remote affiliate channels.

Levy comments:

“Adwatch is unique as it is the only solution able to detect new ads, even if they have not been previously fingerprinted, thus saving manual labor and costs. It also enables the operator to make sure the results are in real time and accurate.”

AdWatch detects unknown advertisements within commercial blocks (inside advertising breaks) and presents them to the operator for approval. Once approved, the new commercial content is detected in both future feeds and within past recorded content stored in the archives.

With Adwatch, users can create visual proofing reports, have visibility on the actual advertising income, benchmark if their ads got more airtime than their competitors’ ads, and more. A flexible report generator is included, allowing users to create and file any report they may need.

Actus MobileLink: media monitoring from your mobile device

MobileLink is the new Actus monitoring solution for mobile devices. Feature highlights include full and recorded media playback, rating analysis, and alert and monitoring using iPhone, Android and iPad or any other smart phone.

Levy notes:

“For a while now, our customers have been asking us to help them take Actus’ great capabilities with them anywhere and everywhere they go. Technicians wanted the ability to check the quality of the broadcast while they’re in meetings or on-the-spot if they suspect that something is wrong —even when a computer is not immediately available. Executives wanted the capability to check and show rating information on their iPads in management meetings. Now, all that is possible with Actus’ new MobileLink.”
